If you’re a retail business, chances are you’ll be looking forward to the holiday season, however, B2B tends to slow down during this period. At the end of the year, many businesses are looking to close sales before the fiscal year ends and that can put a lot of pressure on your team. Of course, with the right employee recognition program you can challenge your staff to view this as a period of opportunity rather than anxiety. Thanksgiving and the Christmas holidays make late November and December particularly rough for many businesses, but this is especially true for non-retail sales. If you’re one of the millions of businesses who already leverage the power of Salesforce to help your business succeed, you have another great tool at your disposal for motivating your teams with employee recognition programs, whether they’re sales, support or general staff, to perform better at this crucial time: ThinkSmart. One way to motivate your sales team through an employee recognition program is by creating and executing a sales contest. We’re only a few days away from the start of the holidays so we’ll use that as our theme… For our example, we’ll use “Turkey Shoot Contest” as our Challenge name. Next, we’ll set our reward system for points, which participants can then accumulate and exchange for prizes. For our example, we’ll set the following point allotments when sales people:
– Get 5 points every time they make a call to an opportunity/lead
– Get 7 points every time they give a demo to a lead
– Get 10 points every time they give a trial to a lead
– Get 50 points if they close a sale in December (plus their commission if any)
Then we’ll set the challenge prizes for the participant that has the highest point total for the contest. Here are some examples…
“Top Shot” – Winner gets a Christmas Turkey with all the fixings delivered to their on the 25th.
“Extra Ammo” – Winner gets an extra day off in December.
“Trick Shooter” – Winner gets an Amazon gift card.
